WHAT THIS IS
A real browser extension (Chrome / Edge / Brave). It silences idle pings,
blocks trackers, tames autoplay video, and sleeps idle tabs — and it shows
your browsing footprint. Click "Open the world" for the rotating earth.

HOW TO INSTALL (about 5 clicks, no coding)
1. Unzip this folder somewhere you'll keep it.
2. Open your browser and go to: chrome://extensions
   (Edge: edge://extensions · Brave: brave://extensions)
3. Turn ON "Developer mode" (top-right toggle).
4. Click "Load unpacked".
5. Choose this unzipped "recycler-extension" folder.
The ♻ icon appears in your toolbar. Click it to open the saver.

WHAT IS REAL vs ESTIMATED (the honesty line)
- MEASURED: idle pings stopped, trackers blocked, tabs put to sleep, and
the bytes actually loaded (your footprint base).
- DERIVED ESTIMATE: carbon in grams (from bytes) and "MB held back" from
tamed video. These are labelled "est." everywhere. Never presented as exact.
- The sweep frees space and clears tracker leftovers. It KEEPS the cache you
reuse. It is NEVER counted as energy saved.
- Only a small energy number ever leaves the machine — never your browsing.

THE GLOBE
"Open the world" shows every country's digital weight, with four layers:
Activity, Carbon, Online %, and Reclaimed. The first three are indicative
public baselines (the waste). "Reclaimed" is real network telemetry — today
a single green spark in South Africa. It fills as recyclers report in.

NOT YET DONE (the make-it-public steps)
- Web Store listing (so people install in one click instead of load-unpacked).
- Bundling the exact Fraunces / Archivo / JetBrains Mono fonts (currently
falls back to close system fonts).
- The live contribution endpoint, so each recycler's signed number flows up
to the globe's Reclaimed layer for real.
